P3 Excursion to the Craft Museum
Students engage in educational excursions which add reality to learning experiences and consequently enrich the course of study .
P3 students of The Modern School, ECNCR got an opportunity to visit Crafts Museum, near Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
At the entrance of the museum were awe-inspiring Madhubani paintings made on different hutments. They were a true example of fine craftsmanship. Art pieces on display were antiques of different historical eras.
Students saw how people in ancient times built their huts. It was a chance to understand the changing lifestyles of people in India, over time. A great learning experience and a wonderful opportunity to discover Indian heritage.
The museum exhibited the beauty of rural India amidst the buzz of city life. From thatched roofs to semi-kuch huts, marvelous paintings to tranquil courtyards, the museum created a beautiful ambience with wooden havelis of Gujarat, Gond huts of Madhya Pradesh, Kuch huts of Kullu Manali etc. These huts were decorated with tribal paintings, paper-mache work, wooden carvings, and embroidery. The museum also exhibited tribal and rural handicrafts besides metalware, clay artifacts, terracotta pots, toys,jewellery and textiles , from across the country.
One of the major attractions was the skills demonstrated by the artisans on the spot.There were shops showcasing different cultures of the states including ornaments, rugs, shawls, embroidered kurtis, bamboo weaving, wooden toys, etc. The museum also presented a short film on the history of Crafts Museum. The visit to the museum was a thrilling and enriching experience for all. It left an indelible impression on the young minds.
