Model United Nations Chapter 2
Ensuring holistic development of the children and providing them opportunities to enhance their skills are the need of the hour. The Modern School, ECNCR- Delhi firmly believes in providing the same to its students. The school organised its second edition of Intra-school Model United Nations and first ever in the offline mode on August 24, 2022. This one day extravaganza was planned and conducted by the students under the guidance of the Social Science department.
Through their participation in the TMSMUN, the modernites were enlightened about the various aspects of the United Nations Organisation, from its functions, to its agencies to various dos and don'ts.
The different committees of TMSMUN and their agendas - on which the delegates found solutions pertaining to the global problems were:
1. United Nations General Assembly (UNGA): Economic Growth and Sustainable Development
2. United Nations Security Council (UNSC): Russia Ukraine war - threatening international peace and security
3. Unites Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO): Integration of affordable technology to improve education in the developing world
4. All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM): Agnipath
5. Harry Potter: Relevance of Stature of Secrecy
The participants were judged on various criterias and aspects of their performance throughout the various committee sessions such as content accuracy, confidence, speaking skills, presentation of matter, and many more. The students had fruitful debates to discuss the agenda which needed recognition. It helped the students develop skills such as - convincing people during informal meetings/lobbying and the ability to put forth indigenous ideas and solutions. The day ended on a high note for all the participants as productive and constructive debates seemed to be paving the way for genuine solutions to the problems under discussion by various committees. The overall experience was very enriching for students as it gave the students the feel of what it takes to be a representative of a nation.
