Annual Sports Day 2017-18

The Modern School, ECNCR celebrated its Annual Sports Day on February 3, 2018 on the sprawling grounds of the school. It was a day filled with fervour and exhilaration, amidst thrills and cheers. The event commenced with the felicitation of the venerable Chief Guest, the quintessential cricketer, Mr Gautam Gambhir; the Guest of Honour, Olympian Mr Devesh Chauhan; the President, Board of Trustees, Modern Schools Mr Ashok Pratap Singh and other distinguished guests. The Principal, Ms Abha Sadana welcomed the guests and the gathering. She laid emphasis on the importance of sports in a student’s life in her welcome speech, followed by a brief report of the sports activities and achievements of the school. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour lit the ceremonial torch followed by the spectacular, impressive and well synchronized March Past by all the four Houses. They felicitated and encouraged the young modernites who were State and National level champions in various fields of sports.
Mr. Gautam Gambhir, the Chief Guest presided over the oath taking ceremony and declared the sports meet open. This was entailed by the races wherein the participants participated with full verve and vigour. It was a delight to see the excitement with which the students challenged themselves to attempt a variety of races such as sack race, fish race, bunny race, skipping race, hurdle race, relay, long and flat races etc.
The Chief Guest, an ex-modernite, in his address reminisced about his school days and how he always wanted to play for his country.
During the interactive session with the students, he spoke about the importance of having self belief, being focused and goal oriented.
The most intriguing aspect of the event was the splendid field drills, involving mass student participation. They sprayed on the field, a riot of hues vibrance and radiance.
The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers, constantly applauded the enthusiastic young sports stars.
Vindhyachal house won the trophy for the best March Past and the Himalaya House received maximum points and took away the Best House trophy.
The school playground rimmed with flags and balloons reverberating with the sound of cheers made everyone’s day.
The Headmistress, Ms Rimpy Verma proposed the vote of thanks.
